The project «Kitap zhane sakhna». Shakespeare for All Time Book Exhibition

On November 24, the presentation of the project "Kitap zhane Sakhna" took place at the Kazakh Musical and Drama Theater named after J.Aymautov, the purpose of which is to acquaint actors and viewers with the work of the authors, based on whose works performances will be staged.

The first book exhibition "Shakespeare for All Time" opened today. It was exhibited before the start of the play "Richard III".

About 100 publications were presented to the attention of the actors and the audience: Shakespeare's works in Kazakh, Russian, English, literature about his life and work. Of particular interest were the unique books from the rare collection of articles "Shakespeare" in 1939, the book by M. Morozov "Shakespeare" from the series "The Lives of wonderful people" in 1947 and the plates on which scenes from the tragedy "Othello" and from the comedy "The Taming of the Shrew" are presented.

Yerkebay Anar Saimzhankyzy, a theater critic from Almaty, head of the Department of History and Theory of Theatrical Art at the Temirbek Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, Professor noted that Shakespeare's works remain popular today. They have forever entered the canon of world literature, they excite viewers and readers — because it touches on eternal themes: love and betrayal, deception and the search for justice, revenge and fear of taking the plunge.

In the foyer of the theater, the library organized a bookcrossing for the exchange of books. Any viewer can take a book they like for FREE, read it – return it or bring another one in return. The campaign's motto is "Read it yourself – pass it on to another."
