Preservation and popularization of common historical memory

A teleconference with colleagues from the Orenburg Regional Universal Scientific Library named after N.K. Krupskaya “Library projects for the preservation and popularization of common historical memory” took place as part of a partnership with libraries in foreign countries.

One of the main aspects of the discussion was methods and approaches to the creation and development of library projects that provide work in this direction. Participants exchanged experiences and best practices, and discussed opportunities for cooperation and interaction between libraries.

Such famous Kazakh public figures, writers, composers as I. Altynsarin, S. Mukanov, G. Musrepov, A. Baitursynov, A. Zataevich and others studied, lived, and worked in Orenburg. Specialists from the National Library named after N.K. Krupskaya voiced the topic “Great Kazakh names on the map of Orenburg” and conducted a virtual tour of the streets of Orenburg; talked about the work of the Iletsk Central Library within the framework of the project “Living Memory of Past Years”; talked about one of the oldest libraries in the city of Orenburg - the library named after Kh. Yamashev, which was opened in 1906 by the Orenburg Muslim Charitable Society and has a collection of books in the Kazakh language; held a presentation of the unique electronic collection “From the World through the Captain's Daughter”, created in 2015 at the Orenburg Regional Library for the 190th anniversary of the arrival of A.S. Pushkin to the cities of Orenburg and Uralsk. The collection has 278 copies in 42 languages of the world.

Pavlodar colleagues spoke about the Digital Press Bank of the Pavlodar region, ways to preserve the archive for generations; electronic resources of the Ekibastuz region; attracting extra-budgetary funds and grants to the library, cross-border cooperation between librarians of the Omsk and Pavlodar regions in the implementation of joint projects and events, the importance of studying and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the village. Information “The Region in the Chronicles of the Early 20th Century” is about rare and valuable publications that reveal the history of the region, the main spheres of life of the population, which help to study the formation and development of our region in a certain historical period.

Such teleconferences have become a tradition of the regional library, which provides an opportunity for library specialists to exchange ideas and research, strengthen partnerships with Russian libraries, contribute to the development of the library field and can lead to the creation of new projects and initiatives aimed at preserving and popularizing common historical memory.
