Meeting with participants of Arctic expeditions

Two hours spent in the regional library with the participants of the Arctic expeditions flew by in one breath. Azamat Isenalinov (Astana), Roman Girichev (Petropavlovsk), and Alexander Vervekin from Pavlodar shared their impressions of traveling to the ends of the Earth.

They were all enrolled in ecological and ecosociological expeditions in the Northern Polar Region as volunteers, participating in the cleanup of Vilkitsky Island in the Kara Sea and the village of Seyakha on Bolshaya Zemlya in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Each of them told about their impressions, shared his thoughts on the need for eco-volunteering, the kids from the Youth House asked questions - how to get on the Arctic Volunteer Team, how long does the training last? The guests gave a detailed answer, showed on video and photo the place of their residence, piles of scrap metal which they collected for recycling, told about food and climate, about a month without connection with civilization, Internet and TV, about brotherhood and mutual assistance in physically demanding work, about polar bears' habits and how to behave with them. At the end of the meeting, the audience thanked the guests and took pictures!
