Reader on the history of Pavlodar

On October 19, a presentation of the book by Pavlodar local historian, honorary cultural figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Citizen of the city of Pavlodar E. D. Sokolkin «Anthology on the Geography of Pavlodar» took place.

This is one of the works that the author left behind unpublished. The anthology was published by the Pavlodar House of Geography with the sponsorship of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC.

The anthology is a textbook; it includes excerpts from scientific, literary and artistic publications, and fragments from various books. The collected materials are dedicated to the city of Pavlodar; they contain information about the city from the beginning of the 18th century. until the beginning of the 21st century.

The book is preceded by an article about Grigory Nikolaevich Potanin, our distinguished fellow countryman-geographer, traveler and ethnographer, whose name has been borne by the Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore since 1959.

All the works of Ernest Dmitrievich, in particular the Reader, help residents of our region learn more about the history of their native land. In the book you can find such rare sources that modern local historians will probably not find them, for the reason that they have long become a bibliographic rarity.

The event was attended by the head of the Pavlodar House of Geography - Alexander Vervekin, the head of the Pavlodar Regional Museum of History and Local Lore named after G. Potanin - Arman Aliakparov, a veteran of museum affairs - Lyudmila Petrovna Sokolkina, employees of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, the State Archive of the Pavlodar Region, teachers of educational institutions , journalists, local historians, schoolchildren and students.
