"Tradition - Trend" Festival Of Forgotten Traditions.
On March 14, the festival of forgotten traditions “Dastur - trend” was held in the regional library named after S. Toraigyrov. The purpose of the festival is the revival of Kazakh traditions and national values, popularization, propaganda of forgotten rituals among young people. Festival participants demonstrated the traditions of the Kazakh people: “Kamshy ilu” (Tradition hanging a whip is one of the rituals reflecting a purely Kazakh concept, performed on the way of betrothal, before the wedding), “Kimeshek kigizu” (a ceremony of putting a kimeshek on a young daughter-in-law, which is arranged by grandmothers after the birth of a young bride, a sign that the daughter-in-law has passed the test, became a mother and an official member of the family), “Besik akelu” (a ceremony when, after giving birth, the bride’s parents come to inquire about their daughter’s health, give a cradle, wishing the matchmakers well-being), “Nemeurin” (providing financial assistance to young families who go to live separately from their parents,) , “Bastangy” (a tradition when young women of the village get together, seeing off adults on a long journey), “Salemdeme” (a small parcel to relatives from a young married woman as a greeting). The festival aroused great interest among visitors and readers of the library.
