The holiday Cosmonautics Day was established by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 9, 1962 in honor of the world's first manned flight into space by Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin on April 12, 1961. In November 1968, at the congress of the International Federation of Aviation Sports, it was decided to celebrate April 12 as the World Day of Aviation and Astronautics, and April 8, 2011 at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, April 12 was declared International Day of Human Space Flight.
On April 12, the Information Hour "Road to Space" took place based on the Industrial Literature Sector. During the event, an exposition dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the flight of the first cosmonaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin was opened. The guests of the event - students # 8 of the Lyceum School for Gifted Children - had the opportunity to listen to a lecture from the author of the exposition, Pavlodar amateur astronomer and enthusiast Andrei Kalinin, who in his spare time is engaged in modeling rockets and surfaces of solar system objects. High school students took an active part in the quiz and won prizes and souvenirs.
