Master class on fabric painting in the «Cold batik» technique

On May 5, within the second festival of visual arts "PavlodART" the regional library hosted a master class on fabric painting in the "Cold batik" technique under the guidance of Elena Ivanovna Yuminova, an artist and tutor, a teacher of special disciplines of the highest category at the Higher College of InEU in Pavlodar.

Batik is a special technique of painting on fabric. A single-colour fabric is stretched over a wooden frame and painted according to a pre-prepared design. That is very interesting and diligent work. The participants were shown how to apply colours on fabric correctly and how to use painting tools.

During the master class, our guests learned to match the colour scheme and mastered a method of applying reserving composition to the fabric. Then, under the keen guidance of the master, they attempted to paint their own workpieces. Within an hour and a half, the paintings had already been completed. They were bright and quite good for a first try.
