Master class on hand-printing techniques

As part of the second PavlodART visual arts festival, Radzhan Mirzhanovich Kastenich, an artist and teacher at the Pavlodar Art College, conducted a master class on the techniques of hand printing on paper for creative young people of the city.

Printing as a technology has been known to humankind for a very long time. Seals and stamps existed in ancient Egypt several thousand years ago. Some very ancient examples of fabrics with printed patterns are also known.

Hand printing techniques allow replication of the work, transferring the image to another quality. At the beginning of the lesson, the master spoke about one of the types of this technique — monotyping, and demonstrated the process of creating a drawing on glass and an imprint on paper. Then, under the guidance of the teacher, the participants tried another technique — engraving on plastic. Pavlodar residents really enjoyed such an unusual and very interesting master class!
