Online consultation within the framework of the "School of Professional Excellence"

On March 19, within the framework of the “School of Professional Skills” on the “ZOOM” platform, an online consultation “Activity of children's libraries to work with children within the framework of the Year of Support for Children and Youth Reading in Kazakhstan” was held for the methodologists of the Central Library System of districts and cities of the region.

B. Borombaeva, methodologist of the Regional Library, analyzed the work of regional libraries with children in 2020, noted the shortcomings and positive aspects in working with children and youth. Conducted training on how to correctly fill in the tables "Key performance indicators for children", "Data on work with minors", "Work of clubs and circles for children", etc.

She summed up the results of the sociological research "Book and you", which was conducted with children-readers of libraries and a blitz-survey with parents "Kazakhstani writers for children". Both children and parents noted the insufficient supply of children's literature, translated foreign literature. There are few children's books in the state language.

Librarians of children's libraries of the region shared their experience of working on the formation of a reading culture of the younger generation, familiarizing children with the values of their native language, literature and culture through reading, discussed further work plans in the Year of Support for Children and Youth Reading in Kazakhstan.
