Zhaykazyn Zhyrdyn Zhugeri

On December the 2nd, a reading conference titled Zhaykazyn Zhyrdyn Zhugeri was organized to celebrate the 80th birth anniversary of poet Syleymen Bayazitov, member of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan and an important figure in children's literature writing. It was attended by Medet Tauaskan, head of the Regional Department of Culture, Language Development and Archiving; relatives of the poet; his children; local intelligentsia and personnel from Secondary School named after K. Kemenger, where Suleymen Bayazitov once worked. Serik Yelikbai, chairman of the Pavlodar Regional Branch of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan spoke of the poet’s contribution to children’s literature. Poet and translator Aibek Oralkhan told us about Syleymen Bayazitov’s prose works. At the end, the results of the Regional Recitation Competition in honor of S. Bayazitov were announced. The winner of the competition was Nurbol Berikboluly, a student from Aksu City School. Second and third places were taken by Khairat Aizere from Irtysh district and Azamat Bolatbekuly from Akkuly district, respectively. Other finalists were awarded with prizes in various nominations. Winners and prizetakers were given valuable gifts, statuettes, and diplomas.
